What is Metallic Epoxy Flooring?
Metallic epoxy flooring coatings are similar to traditional high-performance resinous systems made to resemble a marble floor. In other words, tiny, almost glitter-like pigments are mixed into an epoxy resin and then poured onto the floor or substrate. When these pigments become agitated with a paintbrush or roller, they gather, separate, twist, and turn to reflect light at different angles. Eventually, the epoxy hardens and the metallic pigments are locked into place, giving a three-dimensional, swirly look. The installation technique is what determines the final look of the floor and is a critical part in attaining the desired look.
What are the Advantages of a Metallic Epoxy Floor?
These coatings are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also have many other advantages. Metallic epoxy floor coatings can be customized to be extremely durable, low-yellowing, seamless, antimicrobial, slip-resistant, and chemical-resistant. Not only will these floors look beautiful, but they will meet all of your performance needs. They are great for places like waiting rooms, showrooms, restaurants, galleries, and more.
Is It Used in Commercial or Residential Settings?
Metallic epoxy can be used in both residential and commercial settings. In commercial spaces, you could find this flooring in salons, hotel lobbies, retail stores, restaurants, hotels, and offices. In residential homes, you could find metallic epoxy flooring in living rooms, kitchens, or basements.

There are an immense number of benefits to choosing epoxy flooring. The first and foremost one is epoxy is cost effective. It is extremely durable and also stain resistant. The surface makes for an easy clean up as well. Also, there are limitless colors to choose from, giving you a one of a kind floor.
Typically our installation takes no longer than two days to complete, most garages fall into this time frame. More elaborate decorative floors usually take 3-4 days. The more preparation needed, the more time it takes to complete.
You can give your new floors a light cleaning with a broom, or dust mop. For spills, simply wipe them up with a paper towel or wash cloth. For a deep clean, you will want to mop your floors with a simple mix of ammonia and water. It’s best to avoid any soap mixtures as they can leave a film which can cause your floors to become slippery. Metallic floor coatings show a bit more wear and tear and need more frequent cleaning.
Depending on your specific flooring choice, your floor may have a slightly textured surface and feel, or a glass-like smooth surface. In most cases, your floor will be no more slippery than regular concrete when it’s wet. There are slip resistant additives that can be added to the top coat that will help with this issue.
The most important part of installation process is the preparation of the existing floor. Defects, fissures and dust may compromise the integrity of your new epoxy floor. All efforts are taken to eliminate those defects during the process. By using high quality diamond grinding equipment combined with diligent efforts from our team, we are able to keep the dust to a minimum and prepare the floor correctly.
