Epoxy garage floors installations on average take no more than 2-3 days to complete for most residential applications, with a 3-4 day timeframe for more decorative and elaborate epoxy designs.  As with most home renovation processes, prep work before installation is the most critical and important step.  Defects such as fissures, cracks and dust can compromise your new floor, however, we diligently perform multiple steps to eliminate this.

The first step in installing epoxy garage floors is to make sure the area is cleared and cleaned of all debris and dust.  Epoxy will not adhere to a sealed or painted concrete surface, including any sealant or cure that may have been applied after the first pouring.  Profiling the surface is the process of exposing pores within the concrete for epoxy to adhere and create a strong, solid bond.  Diamond grinding is the preferred method of profiling for most installers as it clears and dislodges any surface debris and coatings to prep the surface.

Next, any surface cracks and fissures will need to be repaired and ground for a smooth surface base, prior to epoxy application.  Epoxy garage floors are self-leveling, but will not fill in existing cracks, and will show damage through to the final epoxy coat.

Epoxy garage floors come in a wide variety of base coat colors with color flake blends, allowing you to completely customize your space!  As the chemical compound hardens when epoxy is mixed, the application process happens rather quickly.  Durable epoxy garage floors require at least 2 coats before adding decorative flakes, and must be cured overnight between each coat.  A top coat with anti-slip additives is then applied, and must be remain free of any foot traffic for 24 hours.
